The Butthole Surfers are an American band founded by Gibby Haynes and Paul Leary in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1981. Incorporating elements of hardcore punk, psychedelia, heavy metal, avant-garde and performance art, their live shows also made heavy use of strobe lights, background films (of note, footage of penis reconstruction surgery) and naked dancers. The band has a well-reported appetite for recreational drugs, particularly psychedelics, an evident influence on their sound.

I wanted to make a song that showed how important the older generation is and how if we don't take a moment to reflect or spend time with them we could lose out on a lifetime of stories and miss out on all of what made the ones we love who they are and what stories they have to tell that put that spark in their eyes and makes them smile to themselves and laugh even when nobody is talking or around. We need to know those memories to know them as well as we can. We need the story behind the spark.more
