Gerry Rafferty
Gerald "Gerry" Rafferty (16 April 1947 – 4 January 2011) was a Scottish singer-songwriter. In his early years, Rafferty earned money by the formerly illegal practice of busking on the London Underground. Poetically, his biggest hit, 1978's "Baker Street", discusses busking at a tube station and being a part of the street life. After working with Billy Connolly (now better known as a comedian) in an obscure outfit known as The Humblebums, he released his first solo album, called 'Can I Have My Money Back', in 1971.

The Seed of Hope
A collaboration with the fantastic Billy Hayes @Hayesy79 - if you’re into sci-fi, you should like this. The single was out on Friday 6th Dec 2024 (06/12/24) and the platform links are attached. Look out for the wonderful video on YouTube by @smartmunkee and here’s the link: https://youtu.be/Y9odVPIBYoM?si=PZnQFxlRWS0vaN61 The lyrics: We forgive you, we forgive you… ‘We’re spending time as if it’s endless Dear one, I must leave you now Our love was shining in the sky At night, we set the stars alight Now, it’s time to fly away Goodbye.’ So, I leave you sleeping deeply And make my way to the preparation bay I stop and turn because something tells me To take a last long look at the place In the decontamination chamber I think of you in a field somewhere Soaking wet from a short, summer shower I place a flower in your glistening hair With eyes aglow in the fiery sunset Smiling softly as our lips first met It’s a moment I will cherish forever It’s a moment I will never, never forget No, I’ll never forget I hope I’ll never forget I hope I’ll never… “You are about to enter a state of suspended animation You have each been specially selected for this essential mission You will voyage in this vessel until a suitable new home has been found And there you will start all over again You are the seed of hope You are the flower of youth You are the future of humankind So, sleep, my angels; Children of Earth God preserve you, always, And may you forgive us for what we’ve done.” HMSS Flower of Youth Fly away, fly away, find a brand-new home HMSS Flower of Youth Sail away, sail away, to the stars you go HMSS Flower of Youth Fly away, fly away, find a brand-new home HMSS Flower of Youth Sail away, sail away, to the stars you go HMSS Flower of Youth Start again, start again, you’re the seed of hope You’re the seed of hope. Music: Billy Hayes & Carlos Fandango / Lyrics: Carlos Fandangomore
