Look Inside The Mind
A track I wrote to my younger self - didn't know who I was in Christ quite yet... Testing out the old school vibes around here... let's see what happens... This is for the Old Heads like me that got started with LL, PE, KRS and the authentic NYC BOOM BAP style - delivered by yours truly, a genuine TX flowing MC (and the DJ... and producer... mixing engineer... graphic artist... etc. etc. without the cashmere sweata) ________ Forgive the rough production - it was literally one take using a cell phone as the camera and using the vocals microphone as the pickup for the music as well from loudspeakers... I didn't have any mixing software to speak of at the time. _ - - -_ You read that correctly, I recorded it on a CELL PHONE _ - - - _ _________ As always these are 100% (c) Copyright 2023 MyArtRecords & dj marty d - _________ Lyrics that were written (below) had some ad lib... chorus/hook is strictly freestyle _______ I figured you out, you don't know who you are. You're not your sneakers or your hat or your jeans or your car. You try to fit in but don't know where your from Emulating other people's just makes you look dumb You want to gain acceptance from at least one group But you"re not accepting that you're jumping through hoops Your grocery store job putting can goods in sacks Your fast food diet wearing t shirts and slacks Acting like a gangster till the boss comes around Bought each cassette like you worship their ground It's all ringing hollow And it's very shallow Your people never were the ones to hang from the gallows You read the books and quote the quotes you think you have clout But only liberal whites know what you're talking about The people you seek to be a part of so badly Hardly know your name is marty they think it's bradley The five percent you are in school makes you the token Claim pride for other people because you're self esteem's broken ____ ____ _____ next verse Haven't found yourself in Christ What unfortunate days You're running like a rat for cheese Caught up in a maze One day its going to dawn on you and this much is true You will never be them and they will never be you The best that you could ever hope is peaceful existence But systems of society put up the resistance If we ever understood the power of unity No politics would divide the community So play your part know your role It's ok to stay in your lane Seasons go generations die So we need to explain The only constant thing on this earth is to change Don't live the status quo but instead rearrange Stop living for material what rust will corrupt Invite the Holy Spirit to come fill up your cup ____ ____ ____ next verse 'Cause if you gained the whole world but lost your soul Sold out for bank roll even though the stone was rolled Away put your weapon God means you no harm Jesus is coming back soon and I'm sounding the alarm Christ beckon's you and draws you in by his spirit And it's about time that some of y'all hear it In real real life Christ lives correctly A lot of sinners would like to forget g But they can't because he's the champ and He broke all records He'll return from Heaven in a second On this bite It's not about who got juice but d j marty d will still produce Fresh like it's still eighty eight you suckaaaaaaaaaa more

shadowcaster
This entire concept came from the Lord after this seemingly random accidental photo on the album cover. In 2021, God downloaded the lyrics into my soul and all just made sense to me. The entire "shadowcaster LP" is themed off the familiar hook "I'ma Cast My Shadow" and similar, hence the name. A few stand out singles are "Multifaceted (My Diamond)" basically about my wife, and my first ever Worship song "If There's Ever A Doubt" which I actually performed live on July 4th at church - literal debut of my solo voice on a song 100% written and produced by me. I'd rapped for decades, but never really recorded anything of quality until now.more

Think Ya' Smart (Granite Remix)
Unreleased track from the "cutting room floor" as they say. Still with the "shadowcaster" theme since it was originally recorded as a track on that album, but I went with the other version. I'm still fond of this one's more traditional Wu-like NYC boom bap style though. I especially like the reverse on the beat I did at about 3:12. Enjoy!more
