The electric guitar slide in the chorus was inspired by a guitar riff in the Metric song ‘Sympathy’ but I wanted to make it more ‘folk’. This song has acoustic guitar, drums, bass, electric guitar and piano. The Mississippi singer songwriter is currently working on her first full length album with Eternal Beyond studios. The story behind the song: Ruth Etc. hosts a weekly open mic where her friend, Mira, had been coming to watch for months. Mira finally got the courage to get up and sing a few original songs. Days before her debut, Mira passed away in a car accident. That night, Ruth went home to write the chorus, wishing she is in heaven playing music with the Angel Band.
