Missy Higgins
Missy Higgins (born Melissa Morrison Higgins on August 19, 1983, in Melbourne, Australia) is one of Australia's most popular female singer-songwriters. Missy (Melissa) was thrust into the limelight in her homeland when her sister entered Missy into a competition, which she won. The competition was conducted by the national alternative broadcaster, Triple J. Although she was still in high school, her song All For Believing quickly became one of the station's most requested tracks of 2001.

Can’t Wait for Heroes
The electric guitar slide in the chorus was inspired by a guitar riff in the Metric song ‘Sympathy’ but I wanted to make it more ‘folk’. This song has acoustic guitar, drums, bass, electric guitar and piano. The message of the song is meant to be straightforward, yet hopeful- namely, that courage is a muscle and the more you use it the stronger it becomes. It’s time to stop waiting for heroes.more

Australia Fair
I've waited until Australia Day (January 26) to post this. Australia's national anthem is "Advance Australia Fair". There are some noble sentiments expressed in it and politicians love to spruik it. But Australia is not fair now and it never really was. Economic inequity has always existed, young people struggle to buy a home and the social contract is under immense strain. I will, however, always advocate for fairness and equity even if it requires a small personal sacrifice. more

Way To Go
Today (15 Dec 2024) is our 45th wedding anniversary. When I came to write a song for my wife in 2021 we already had a long rich history so I decided to write about our first few months together (the picture is a genuine historical artefact from 1977). I had only just started learning GarageBand when I recorded the basic tracks. I could barely sing with headphones (some say I can barely sing at all) and I knew very little about mixing and producing. Some day I will re-record this, but it stands as a record of the beginning of my songwriting journey.more
