The Bell And The Blackbird
The chorus tips-a-hat to the nursery rhyme 'Hey Diddle, Diddle, The Cat And The Fiddle' in particular Tolkien's interpretation in 'The Man in the Moon Stayed Up Too Late' a Hobbit poem composed by Bilbo Baggins. Lyrics: Everybody has their say Some don't listen So sublime no derision Smitten with Hubris eye Full of pride and self-devotion Reached a higher place Somewhere out there Dance the horned cow Wag the tufted tail Jump the sickle moon See the crowned crow Shiny rainbow-wings As the dark bell tolls Music fade away No time no rhythm Shouldn't it have been everlasting? Came as no surprise Darkness falling Nothing left to give Nothing left to share Dance the horned cow Wag the tufted tail Jump the sickle moon See the crowned crow Shiny rainbow-wings As the dark bell tolls Still a blackbird sings Curtain starts to fall Tide is turning Is anything ever never-ending? Nothing as it seems No forgiveness Even if they should Even though they could Is there anybody who really cared? Dance, the horned cow Wag the tufted tail Jump the sickle moon See the crowned crow Shiny rainbow-wings As the dark bell tolls Jump the sickle moon See the crowned crow Shiny rainbow-wings As the dark bell tolls Still a blackbird sings Blackbird Blackbird Blackbird What about tomorrow? Embrace a brand-new day All that can't be mended We'll carry along the way Blackbird's still singing Hear blackbird sing Blackbird's still singing Hear blackbird sing Songs of hope it sings Feel the joy it brings As the old bell ringsmore
