Waiting
I've always dreamed of doing something extraordinary with my life, but as the years passed by, some how I found myself seemingly stuck in the same place. My bedroom has been a cave of creativity; I sleep there, work there, exercise there, write songs there, read my Bible and pray there, watch movies and play video games there... I do just about everything in there. In my early young adult years, I watched my friends disappear out of my life one by one as they went to pursue career endeavors, find love, or find themselves. I thought someday I'd be going away too. But as much as I desired adventure, I was never convinced that the answer to my life was "out there" somewhere. I even "peeked" at a few opportunities, but ultimately concluded it wasn't the right choice for me. At the time when I wrote this song, it was actually an expression of my frustration with God. Sure, I trusted Him, and believed He had a plan and purpose for my life, but it seemed like everyone else was making such noticeable progress in their own lives, and here I was, still stuck in the same old place. Every time a new opportunity presented itself, I would get excited, thinking, "This is it!", only later to be disappointed to find out it led nowhere but back to where I started. However, what I didn't realize back then, I see much more clearly today. I'm not the same person I was when I first wrote this song; I have grown and improved tremendously in multiple areas of my life: my songwriting and production skills, my singing voice, my physical and mental health, my business knowledge, my self-control and discipline, my relationship with God, and much more. Each year, the destination becomes more clear, and I feel better equipped for the journey. I almost thought of changing the lyrics to this song, but I've decided to leave them the same. This is the last of my old songs, and after this I'll be writing new songs which will better represent who I am as an artist "today". It's actually interesting that I'm releasing this song now, because I truly believe during all these years of "Waiting", God has been working in my life and preparing me for something, and whatever it is, I think it's coming soon. more
