Steve Lacey
Steve Lacy (July 23, 1934 - June 4, 2004), born Steven Norman Lackritz in New York, was an innovative jazz soprano saxophonist. Lacy was interested in all the arts: the visual arts and poetry in particular became important sources for him (he frequently made musical settings of his favourite writers: Robert Creeley, Tom Raworth, Brion Gysin and other Beat writers, haiku, Herman Melville...). He also collaborated with a truly extraordinary range of musicians, from traditional jazz to the avant-garde to contemporary classical music.

Island House
This is CatNick: Soulful vocals, keyboard melodies with an intuitive forward-looking sound. Nick is in charge of the drums and the guitars. house-inspired jazz drums, jazz bass with a vintage sound, guitars are basically a melding of Nile Rogers chucking with the haunting jangles of the Jazzmaster. Hiding behind CatNick’s catchy tunes are some introspective lyrics, reflecting the duo's inner world. Cat’s lyrics are emotionally honest, creative, and personal, but can also be moody and self-conscious, seamlessly shifting from joy to deep sadness. Her focus on internal experience rather than external creates an illusion of timelessness. A word from Cat: This is the title track of our upcoming EP "Island House", coming out July 26, 2024. Let me know what you think! I'm currently working on a mixed-media music video. We recorded the songs in 2022, and now I am recording with a new mic this year! I can't wait to show you guys. ABOUT THE EP: Dive headfirst into captivating inner journeys, navigate emotional waters, and indulge in daydreams when you finally find solace on a peaceful beach. Island House by CatNick is an intimate artistic universe, featuring themes of self-discovery, independence, inner turmoil, and introspection. If you like our sound please consider saving our band's playlist "This is CatNick" on Spotify. (linked to this post)more

Of My Own
Bittersweet feelings of restlessness caused by long nights of creative work are perfectly captured in ‘Of My Own’, the first single of CatNick’s upcoming EP. The entrancing chromatic bassline drives the track, reflecting a desire for change and personal growth tainted by the walls of a claustrophobic home studio. Energetic yet intimate alt-pop vocals and dreamy keys blend with a catchy vintage rhythm section and funky guitar chucking.more
