The Creatures were a musical act formed in 1981 by Siouxsie and the Banshees members Siouxsie Sioux and Budgie. With the dissolution of Siouxsie and the Banshees in 1996, The Creatures graduated from an occasional parenthesis to a full-time concern. Requiem (For A Lost People)
The original motif came while I was working in Australia, and seemed to reflect my own feeling of profound distance from my home country. But also there was a thread of losing faith with what my country was becoming, and what I thought of, and was proud of, as being British as I was growing up. So it felt like it eventually developed into a piece about a lost people - in terms of distance and also a moral and ethical anchor. Playing it to others, it seemed to strike a similar tone. more
