Shimada Nami (島田奈美) is a Japanese music critic, DJ, and former pop singer. Her real name is Shimada Naoko (島田奈央子). Shimada got a break in show business at four years old when she was scouted at Yoyogi Park. She briefly became a commercial model until her dad pulled the plug on her model career. Ten years later she auditioned for the television anime Pants no Ana 2 ~Kahei Hatake de Input~ but didn't win. Shimada didn't give up and auditioned for the magazine Momoco a year later and won.
