This is a song off our first album: Hopelessness.
Our album has finally dropped today, I'm happy to bring this project to life and I hope you enjoy.
Seven tracks, two instrumental tracks, one completely improv guitar session which was done in one take, and five other songs with complete lyrics/vocals.
Some things may not be all 100% correct, but It's been a lot of fun putting this altogether. My own mixing and mastering has been placed on this release, One entire month of work in engineering.
The songs themselves have been floating around for quite some time as ideas. Then I'd sit down to record, and this is the end result. There really wasn't much of a set method, just the workings of chaos and what felt right. There's a lot of melodic pieces in the songs, including off the top of my head solos.
Just a completely blind guitarist here, along with the awesome drumming of my good friend Barabbas T. Jones.
It has been four total months of back and forth, I would gather much of my ideas, later, sending the files over to the drummer. He's an amazing drummer. When I hear the drums now, he really brings that extra fire to the songs, allowing the guitar riffs and solos feel more whole.
Sure some of the songs may seem off putting at times. This is what I was going for, letting you, the listen know that you're listening to two humans playing these songs and giving a realistic performance.
Also this off beat drumming came from a bit of the sludge metal side. It fits quite well.
I don't own a bass guitar so in the album, I use my guitar for the roll. I selected the middle pickup, and played it through a bass amp and cab.
Other than that, I didn't bother with time correction, auto tune, cleaning up the guitars to give the "over processed" sound. No, I prefer an untouch take.
Practicing our parts and hitting record to capture something cool.
The vocals took some time at first, I wouldn't have much time to record vocals or write the lyrics. When I did get time, I sure went all out on the recordings.
Most of the songs, I went with a low, almost growled sound, while in "Within The Woods" my voice was over worked at this point. I think it works well for this song.
Each song is about starting fresh, with new beginnings like in Winter. The theme came from nature based poetry.
We are a new collaborative band project just making some cool melodic doom metal, future releases may be different though. We're looking to do different things, including sounds in new releases..
Give it a listen, and we wish you a great week.more
