Heleste

Heleste is a solo project of Urals-based musician Stepan Efremov. He creates and records experimental ambient music of two main sub-genres. The main inspiration for one is synthesis. The synthesis of old and new, modern and vintage, analog and digital. Here he uses electronics that processes gusli (Russian lap harp), kalimba, and other acoustic instruments to create melodic textures while playing, layering the sounds. Another main sub-genre is sonic sculptures which are created to immerse and envelope, to blow away with drones made with the usage of field and tape recordings.
