Personal Fantasy
Off of the New Concept EP "KAI: Creaturae", this song like the others off of the EP is sung from the perspective of KAI, who represents my depression and anxiety. KAI is playing the devil on your shoulder in this song, trying to convince me that suicide is the best route to take in our current state.more

Paper Chains
THE ERA OF KAI BEGINS; “KAI: Creaturae” is the new concept EP from Jake’s Mistakes, the solo gothic rock/metal project created by Jacob Ekleberry and based out of St. Louis, MO. The story line follows the character KAI, an alter ego who is the embodiment of all things negative in ourselves. This can be everything from depression, anxiety, past mistakes, regrets, etc etc. The majority of the music is sung from the perspective of KAI. In the latest single “Paper Chains”, Jake’s Mistakes dives into the topic of his own writing and how KAI is constantly there reminding him that his writing is only a distraction from his depression. He is bound to his writing as if the paper he writes on is his chains. He writes to survive KAI, making his writing a safe place, but also a prison. An official music video for this track is on youtube!more
