The son of a country preacher, Shannon grew up singing in his dad’s church while daydreaming about performing in front of thousands of people. The early influences on his music were bluegrass and country. While those around him embraced the rock music of the era, Shannon was singing along to George Strait, Alabama and Johnny Cash. He also had the chance to watch the legendary George Jones perform in a hay barn in rural Missouri at a young age. He believes that music is the language of the soul, and without it, there would be a hole in him that could not be filled. Shannon, also a self-taught guitar player, moved to North Carolina nearly twenty years ago and has been busy writing and recording new music and playing with regional bands such as Old State Travelers. When he’s not thinking about music, Shannon loves to spend time outdoors, and he is an avid hunter and fisherman.
