Written in 2019 while living in Kobe, Japan, ‘Clownery’ is a song that wants to excoriate one specific target audience and, at the same time, wants another to shake their booty wildly. I originally took inspiration from how most people act on their social media apps, but there's definitely more to it. Taking inspiration from Internet slang words as well, multi-faceted lyrics blend in with an 80’s synthwave-inspired soundscape surrounded by glitch hop/hyperpop and techno-infused pop structures. Solecism in the chorus is intentional.more
