Written, sung, and produced by me. This song is essentially about fear of success or popularity. Not taking privacy or being a nobody for granted as it seems celebrities or just public figures are dehumanized through fandom's idolization, plus a less obvious message about sexuality (I'm asexual so the song is sort of cryptically about that too)
It’s too bright
They’re too loud and they won’t ever quiet now
You’re not meant to live in such a light
It burns out all the life in and around you
Lost to the cause, the cost
So, I know all I say is lost on you
It’s all lost on you
Waiting for the fall
The dark place is calling like the womb
This is no place to belong
Not sure I’m strong enough
Even with the weight of death
It hurts beyond belief
It’s too bright to look it in the eye
I want the quiet back
Is this fear in me
So close to cracking, it sounds like laughter and lightning
I refuse to give in to the madness
Normalizing absurdity
It’s too bright
They’re too loud and they won’t ever quiet now
You’re not meant to live in such a light
It burns out all the life in and around you
Lost to the cause, the cost
So, I know all I say is lost on you
It’s all lost on you
My love is not physical
Everything that glitters isn’t gold
Everything that shines isn’t light
The trained lions and charmed snakes still bite
Waiting for the fall
The dark place is calling like the womb
This is no place to belong
Not sure I’m strong enough
Even with the weight of death
It hurts beyond beliefmore
