Born in the island of Jamaica, Cedric Ellis started performing in kindergarten as an Arawak Indian for a school number. After moving to Canada at a young age, he continued to pursue his dreams of performing. Cedric expanded his horizon to acting but music remained his first passion. This became apparent when he sang his way to becoming the lead vocalist for his middle school choir.
During his high school years, Cedric formed a performance band known as The Dynes (shortening for The Dynamites), with his three best school buds. They performed old hits like “Hit The Road Jack” among other classics. Cedric also dedicated a portion of his evenings to work with a prestige vocal coach at the Ontario Conservatory of Music.
In 2007, Cedric auditioned for Canadian Idol, where he received great feedback for his “refreshing” rendition of “You Are Not Alone” by Michael Jackson. This landed him in the second rounds of auditions for the Canadian reality singing competition. Cedric continued to
