Vices is a song about living everyday life with Schizophrenia. It describes how it effects the mind of someone with the disorder. That said the song doesn't just have to be about living with just that, it could be related to any other disorder or disease at the same time. The guitar parts were written by our guitarist Jake Gunnell with some collaboration with myself being the other guitarist. Jake had the song on file and decided to dust off the riff and use it on this upcoming album. He had mentioned to me about wanting a breakdown where there could be divebombs in there similar to how Avenged Sevenfold or Pantera would do it and that resulted in what you hear in the Pre-Chorus. The bass parts were written by a mixture of both Justin Biltz and Jake Gunnell. Justin usually follows the rhythm track in the song but Jake had the idea to have the bass continue the single note run in the later breakdown towards the end of the song. The lyrics were written by Brandon Conrad like mentioned above, life with a mental disorder like Schizophrenia. more
