Pookie acquired Pookie Wit Tha Uzi as a stage name while attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He and a fellow student made a song and group called "Flatline". This song's lyrics are the origin to his name,
"(Pookie wit the Uzi/My tooley'll leave you gooey!)"
Soon after, he got U - Z - I tattooed on his stomach in the same place as Tupac Shakur's Thug-Life.
In 2009, he released several mixtapes on Datpiff, as a solo artist. Uzi, whose hometown is Forest City, NC found a second home in Gastonia, NC. Rapping alongside native Gaston County artist in the group Bigger Than Rap (BTR), Pookie and his self-titled Fiya Boyz opened up for Waka Flacka Flame, Rick Ross, and Slcik Pulla just to name a few.
Only to reemerge again in 2012 as a Christian/Reggae artist known as Iz-Real. After only one studio album PSALMS 33:3 (Songs of Izreal) and a two-disc mixtape NON-PROPHET & NP II
