4AD is a British independent record label that was started in 1979 by Ivo Watts-Russell and Peter Kent, funded by Beggars Banquet Records, and is still active today. Since it began, 4AD has amassed a diverse roster of artists. Bauhaus began their career on the label, as did the PIxies, Clan of Xymox, The Birthday Party, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Modern English, Tones on Tail, Thievery Corporation, and Throwing Muses. 4AD now forms part of the Beggars Group
