These Words Are Best
A poem about the power of the tongue: words that wound, words that heal. Nu-metal rap meets dubstep, with staggered doubles for a live, canyon-wide sound. Written by Terry West, arranged with John. Life and death are in the words. These words are best. Heads up, fellow artists: I'm also building Deep River Radio, an independent station where 80% listener's dues goes straight to the artists who get played. Big Big World
Big Big World - Kinder Von Seraphine "A very small man in a big big world, living alone… many years now gone." This one's about looking back and wishing you'd been braver: braver to sing, to love, to say what was in your heart. If it lands with you, I'd love to hear what you think. Sete Estrelas Cadentes
“Seven Shooting Stars” blends contemporary Brazilian MPB with indie folk and intimate singer-songwriter sensibilities. Delicate acoustic textures, expressive female vocals, and evocative poetry explore love, absence, and the resilience found in song. In “Seven Shooting Stars,” Rey Vinas crafts a poetic exploration of love's absence, bringing cosmic events into the intimate world of everyday life. Seven shooting stars fall into a backyard as a windstorm rages outside the house. The contrast between interior and exterior establishes the dramatic conflict: the presence of others cannot dispel the loneliness of lost love. Images such as “lagoons of salt” turn the landscape into an expression of loss. The dramatic structure unfolds in three movements: rupture, desolation, and resilience. The recurring refrain — “If I miss you so much” — continually reopens the conflict, while the question “How will I get through this night?” concentrates its emotional tension. The female voice, initially accompanied by gently plucked strings, gradually gains rhythmic support and layered harmonies, alternating intensity and restraint in a musical progression that mirrors the protagonist's emotional fluctuations. In the final movement, traces of absence inhabit ordinary objects: an echo in the dishes, a mark on the floor, a name held like thunder. The closed door embodies the impasse; “Something beyond still calls to my heart” introduces the possibility of a life extending beyond the lost relationship. The closing line — “I sing so I won't lose myself” — completes the dramatic arc, not through reconciliation, but through the affirmation of song as an act of resilience.more
