Jyoti
Georgia Anne Muldrow’s next project is unlike anything she’s ever released. Georgia Anne Muldrow’s jazz persona is named is Jyoti – a Sanscrit word meaning “light”- and it is the name given to her from “the great and masterful ancestor” Alice Coltrane who was a family friend. Her first record composed as Jyoti is entitled “Ocotea“- the name of an aromatic wood that her mother had recently given her, and she told me that burning this wood is what sparked the inspiration for creating the “free-jazz” sound of the album.
