Manuel González Hernández, known as Manolín ("El Médico de la salsa"), is a Cuban timba and salsa artist (singer, songwriter and band leader). Manolín captured the hearts of many Cubans in the late 1990s when he abandoned medicine to write catchy Salsa songs such as "La Bola." Typically, his songs begin with generic Salsa before breaking out with a high-energy percussion/bass-led Funk that often leads to screaming riff contests between the horn section and the chorus singers.
