Before singing, Anisa danced Indian and Chutney music. She won the 1996 National Mashramani Competitions in Guyana for the 14-17 age category, though she was only 13 at that time. This is where she received the name "Princess", and it has stuck with her ever since. Singing Soca, Chutney, Reggae, Filmi and everything in between (even Spanish and Portuguese), her versatility has enabled her to sing with Dil-E-Nadaan, JMC 3Veni, Karma, N2, Wave Band, and more.
