"Luna" is a very special musical composition for me. I wrote it at a time in my life when I was overwhelmed by feelings of anxiety, insomnia, and depression, but I found in the composition a way to find peace.
With "Luna" I imagined a woman enveloped in the mystery of a moonlit night, a beautiful woman who at times appeared to be near but still kept her true identity hidden.
The song has a "festejo" rhythm characteristic of the traditional music and dance of the Peruvian coast, which has its roots in the music and dances brought during the colonial period from Africa. The festejo is a very popular cultural expression in the northern and central coast of Peru, characterized by a festive and joyful rhythm, marked by the sound of drums and cajones. The piano and soprano saxophone solos give the song a jazzy touch, combining the traditional and the modern without losing its cultural essence.
I hope that "Luna" invites listeners to explore their own feelings and emotions, and to find peace in the midst of uncertainty, just as the festejo represents the richness and diversity of Afro-Peruvian culture.more
