Trials were an American heavy metal band formed in Chicago, Illinois in 2008. Known for their blend of thrash music and death metal their music also has melodic and progressive elements. Origins (2007-2011}: Trials were originally formed by vocalist/guitarist Mark Sugar and former Novembers Doom drummer Sasha Horn, sometime in late 2007. In an interview with About.com, Mark Sugar stated, "We formed... with only two members and the sole intention of recording a demo.
