Never conceived of as an alter ego, but rather as a container in which his eclectic musical tastes and experiences could be combined, Unitus was constructed by Daniel Ross in Toronto, Canada, during the summer of 2000. Informed as much by the visceral quality of early industrial artists like The Swans, Big Black, and Godflesh as by the detailed production work of later electronic artists like Aphex Twin, and Autechre, Unitus was an ambitious project from the onset.
