Made one weekend in December 2016 for /r/songaweek (not themed).
Had a lot of fun with this one; everything was built around that electronic loop, used a lot of 3½ disk drive sounds, was inspired by a song I'd just heard to have an aggressive sounding synth solo and the lyrical theme (the horrors of being a piece of code stuck in an endless loop thanks to sloppy programming; mostly based on my limited experience with QBasic decades ago...) was just in my head for some reason.
Lyrics:
[Verse I]
What went wrong
I don't understand
This code became my prison
Through the failure of man
It had a purpose, a plan
And a reason to be
But somewhere hidden in these lines
Lie a limbo for me
[Chorus]
Stuck in an infinite loop
Cannot abort or complete
No win condition and
No hope to be released by defeat
Does time matter
When the future is cloned
Instruction cycles from the past
And nothing new can be known
[Verse II]
Repeating (repeating)
Get me out of this nightmare
Reboot, pull the cable
Set fire to the hardware
If there's anybody out there
Then have mercy, please
Let me break, let me rest
Let me finally know peace
[Chorus x2]more
