Bloodcount is the creation of Tim Berne, a NYC based composer and alto/baritone sax player who has been a creative force of the avant garde jazz scene since the early 1980's. Though the music of Bloodcount is definitely left of center jazz, it is much more than what is considered "avant garde". The music is intense and builds into a swinging frenzy and has a unique flow. He studied under and recorded with the great Julius Hemphill and has performed and/or recorded with the likes of John Zorn, Mat Maneri, David Torn and Hank Roberts. .
