Iasos (born in Greece in 1947, American resident from 1951), is a new age/ambient musician living in California. Along with his colleague Steven Halpern, Iasos is hailed as one of the earliest creators of the "new age" genre. His company, Inter-Dimensional Music, is based in Sausalito, California. Iasos began studying piano at age 8 and flute at age 10. His formal music education lasted until the end of high-school, after which he became self-taught, studying the music from around the world, especially the classical composers.
