Kiki Rockwell
Born in San Francisco & raised in Bonn (Germany) as well as Auckland, Kiki Rockwell is a former member of local band The Leers who is now taking her first steps as a solo artist. Drawing inspiration from the grit of the wild west, the allure of medieval folk tales and the world building sounds of dystopian video games, her debut EP ‘Bleeding out in a forest’ (that she wrote, produced and mixed herself) takes you on a short trip away.

Fracture or Frame
EXCLUSIVE FOR MY FRIENDS HERE AT SLAPS.COM !! This track appears nowhere else online. It's part of a progressive metal concept album I've been working on for the past 6 months and honestly, I just want someone to hear SOMETHING from it. I've finished songs 2, 3, and 5 out of 10 songs I've planned for the album. The story of which is that of a man who realises that the universe is governed by rules that can be manipulated by consciousness. This song, "Fracture or Frame" tells the part of the story where he's still struggling with the idea of what he think's he's found in his investigations of Quantum Information Holography.more

So, I spent some time thinking about the most "American" music I could imagine and decided that it was the themes which appeared at the start of TV shows and movies like Deadwood. I wanted to tell the story from the perspective of a love affair that was ending to make it more personal for the listener - to bring that message closer to home.more
