Sun Song (Doing Well)
Sometimes it’s hard to believe that things are going to get better- you do everything you can to change your trajectory and it seems like nothing is working. You feel like each day is a repeat of the last, going nowhere, accomplishing nothing. You turn on a playlist or the radio to drown out your frustration and distract yourself for a little while. One of your favourite songs comes on and all of a sudden you are transported. For a few joyful minutes, you’re somewhere else, reliving a cherished moment or sobbing along with a heart stopping chorus. For a few joyful minutes, whatever you were worried about seems to melt away. Sun Song (Doing Well) was written from that place and about that feeling. With Sun Song (Doing Well), The Justus Trio imagine a world where the sun is shining and everyone you know is “doin’ well.” This song is simply a kid’s imagination running wild, creating the world that it wants to live in. As with many of the Trio’s songs, Sun Song (Doing Well) started as an ad lib songwriting session in singer John Justus’ bedroom. The song has morphed into one of the more expansive musical projects the band have released to date. For a change of pace, John, Bailey, and Caleb entered the studio with a basic demo and set out to record a final version in one 8 hour day. Prior to the recording session, the entire bridge section was in flux - and by the end of the day it was 90% of what you hear in the recording - a sparse, heartbeat rhythm, featuring everyone on drums. Sun Song (Doing Well) in its final form is a song to stand beside you and put a smile on your face - no matter what you’re going through. Streaming everywhere you want music (Spotify, AppleMusic, YouTube, etc) and available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon Music, and from the band’s website gentlepeople.us.more

Virtual Ghost
LYRICS: [Intro] Feeling trapped in this void, lost and hollow Living life through a screen, hard to swallow Chasing shadows of a dream, love I’ll never borrow Stuck in this haze, will there be a tomorrow? [Verse 1] Late nights, black lights, staring at your face Pixelated love, in this virtual space Heart's on fire, but it's just a cold embrace Is it real or a lie? Can’t keep up the pace Pills on the table, numbing all the pain Whispers in my head, driving me insane Addicted to this high, drowning in the rain Craving for a touch, but it’s all in vain [Chorus] I’m falling for a ghost, someone I’ve never met Haunted by your voice, can’t seem to forget Drowning in this love, it's my biggest threat Is it worth the fight, or should I let it set? [Verse 2] Days blend together, can’t find the line Between reality and this love online Broken pieces of my heart, can’t realign Searching for a sign, but there’s no design Addiction pulls me deeper, into the abyss Every message from you, feels like a bliss But the void inside me, it’s hard to dismiss Will I ever find peace, or end it with a kiss? [Chorus] I’m falling for a ghost, someone I’ve never met Haunted by your voice, can’t seem to forget Drowning in this love, it's my biggest threat Is it worth the fight, or should I let it set? [Bridge] Maybe it’s a dream, maybe it’s a curse Living for a fantasy, could it be worse? Every heartbeat hurts, every breath terse Questioning my worth, as I rehearse Should I let go, or should I hold on tight? Living in the dark, will I see the light? Battling my demons, every single night Is this love my savior, or my final fight? [Outro] Lost in the echoes, of a love never seen Fighting through the shadows, in between Will I find the answer, or stay in this routine? Living for a ghost, in this endless scenemore
