A Silver Mt. Zion is a band formed in 1999, in Montreal, Canada, by Godspeed You! Black Emperor musicians Efrim Menuck, Sophie Trudeau and Thierry Amar. According to an interview with VPRO Radio in The Netherlands, originally the project was for Efrim to learn how to score music, but the idea was soon abandoned as Efrim decided that he preferred music not to be defined by rules, preferring simply what sounds best. Despite this, he continued the project

Untitled 1
First song from my weekly releases under the Horseglu title, all chronologically numbered singles “Untitled”. I have left these tracks untitled because of Zdzisław Beksiński’s artistic philosophy towards titling his work, he wanted to detach over-explanation or interpretation from his art, “Meaning is Meaningless”. While I may be overextending his phrasing, I have taken this approach towards these tracks and tried to create atmospheres and emotions without giving any cues to interpretation prior to the listeners’ first experience. There is no order to the tracks other than the chronological numbering system, and I feel the completed work will be better experienced out of order. more
