Arctic Lights is a new music project from Liam O’Callaghan (Bulkhead) and Edward Butt (Emperor of Ice Cream). In 2020, Emperor of Ice Cream who were signed to Sony Records, made a comeback last May to finally release their long-awaited album ‘No Sound Ever Dies’, which entered the official Irish album charts and also hit the No.1 spot in the indie charts, making it a staggering fourth No. 1 since their comeback. ‘No Sound Ever Dies’ while achieving chart success at home in Ireland, has been very well received internationally with tracks from the album gaining radio airplay in a massive 33 countries spanning the globe. In the early 90s, Liam O’Callaghan was one on Ireland’s most sought after song writers with over seven record companies looking to sign his band Bulkhead, which sounded like a mixture of Nine Inch Nails meets melodic pop. While a deal was offered by a major label it was turned down because of Bulkheads disillusionment with the music industry. Liam decided to take a

Holy Joe
Arctic Lights new single ‘Holy Joe’ is a follow-up to their critically acclaimed single ‘Belong’ released in Oct 2022. 2023 sees a new direction from this creative force with an even darker and heavier sound. “Holy Joe may sound a bit different from some of our other songs but we like to surprise people with each new release as we get bored quickly and don’t just want to repeat the same tricks each time. This keeps us engaged and interested as we find exploring new sounds gets us excited, being an independent act allows us to do what we like and we will keep doing that while hoping people will enjoy what we do, but, overall we make music for ourselves.” – Edward Butt “I find writing music can be cathartic and songs have personalities of their own. I had a melody in mind for Holy Joe but no lyrics. The minute we pressed record to put the melody down the lyrics just started pouring out. I think you can feel a crackling and bristling in society at the moment like there is a fire about to ignite. For me, the emotion of the vocals captures this feeling perfectly. Hopefully, we can extinguish the fire.” – Liam O Callaghanmore

Belong
Our new single 'Belong' now available on all streaming platforms. Check us out on twitter @arcticlightscork or FB #ArcticLightsCork. Arctic Lights new single ‘Belong’ is a follow up to their critically acclaimed single ‘Fade Away’ released in April 2022. Fade Away was a huge underground club and global independent radio hit that was surprisingly uplifting despite the withering fatalism of the song’s lyrics. ‘Belong’, is a more musically expansive yet lyrically intimate shifting between industrial and dark, with an indie melancholy that is dispatched in a calm and contented clarity. ARCTIC LIGHTS BIO Formed in 2021, Arctic Lights consisting of Liam O Callaghan and Edward Butt from Cork, Ireland, are now releasing their second single of 2022. This exciting duo have made quite an impression on the music scene since releasing their debut single ‘King of America’ in Jan 2021. They have been consistently releasing music ever since, gaining a rapidly increasing fanbase and ever expanding following on social media and streaming platforms such as Spotify and Bandcamp. Their music has been played on various radio stations from every continent across the globe, from America and Asia to Africa and Australia and of course Europe. All music, production, mastering and artwork is created inhouse, making this act an incredibly innovative and versatile force. Even though Arctic Lights are barely two years in existence you get the feeling that this is only the beginning of an unbelievably exciting voyage of discovery which can only grow from strength-to-strength with each new release. WHAT THE PRESS SAY ABOUT ARCTIC LIGHTS ‘A whirlwind of indie melodic pop, carefully crafted song writing, catchy bass lines and distorted guitars’ — Hot Press ‘As a radio show presenter, Arctic Lights is one of those bands you know you're going to play the moment the new music is released, and keep playing them. They're easily producing some of the best indie driven rock music around right now.’ — Mike Mc Mahon Dundalk FM ‘Every now and then we come across a band that’s really special’ — bubblingbox.com ‘Spellbllindly-catchy indie rock from Ireland.’ — Michael Carr, 96fm ‘@ArcticLightsC tearing it up on @RawBTB this is such a buzz this tune’ — Beyond The Bridge, Raw Radio For more information / images / interviews contact [email protected] Listen, view or follow Arctic Lights on: https://linktr.ee/ArcticLightsC ARCTIC LIGHTS MUSIC VIDEOS: Renaissance: https://youtu.be/3RaSlpErJ3U Intertwine: https://youtu.be/LvwIDk-fVyc Wanderlust: https://youtu.be/hrT1YR8HQWo King of America: https://youtu.be/4NY0g0ZeYFc more

Fade Away
On 1st April, Arctic Lights released their first collaboration with renowned artist Cat Dowling. Lauded as one of the most wonderful and evocative vocalists in Irish contemporary music, Cat Dowling's beautifully husky and achingly intimate vocals will grip you from the outset. Arctic Lights new track ‘Fade Away’ offers an unflinching look into the darkest depths of the broken soul, exploring the feeling that somehow we don't belong in this world. The track has a true dark energy that paradoxically feels surprisingly uplifting. The song manifests with a pumping, booming bass-line that covers the aggressive experimental rhythm section like a warm blanket, allowing vocalists Cat and Liam work their unrehearsed inspired and original chemistry. The fast motion seesaw of these spellbinding vocals captures the true magic of musical alchemy. Remarkably seductive, you’ve got to listen!
