This song is loosely based on two stories; The Woman At The Well (The Samaritan Woman), and The Prodigal Son.
The focus of the lyrics isn’t on how the stories end, but rather on the process of getting to the “happy ending.” No one really talks about that journey. The time in between tragedy and suffering, and being rescued and redeemed.
Rear View is about where dreams and realities meet. The tension between life as we know it, and the life enlightened, free of the tangles of the past and living on purpose.
Even when we are living an enlightened life, the past is never very far, and that “knowing” can be the key to accepting that reality and engaging a shift to desiring something bigger. Something that is experienced as Brand new while at the same time accepting the truth that nothing stays brand new.
The main message of the song is the battle cry of, “I’m ready now!”
