Sacred Love versus Derision "Parodie" (Parody) is a fascinating track driven by the contrast between the protagonist’s inner earnestness and the cynical gaze of the outside world. Nicart manages to portray a near-religious devotion, only to have it collide head-on with the harsh reality of social incomprehension. It is a bold song that compels the listener to take a side: do you choose the sincerity of love, or do you join the onlookers on the sidelines in their laughter? The lyrical structure of "Parodie" is cyclical, reinforcing the sense of an unacknowledged testimony. The audio reveals a composition rooted in melancholic Dutch rock, which bolsters the emotional layers of the lyrics. "Parodie" stands out as a poignant highlight on the album *Dodelijke nachtschaduw* (Deadly Nightshade). John Nicart succeeds in capturing the painful sensation of emotional isolation—the realization that what you hold as your greatest love is perceived by others as a joke. Yet, by keeping the music so sincere and powerful, he proves the very opposite of the title: this is no parody, but a deeply serious artistic expression. Translated lyrics: This is the story Of death and life I give myself to you Until the times You are so beautiful This is the story Of life and life I care about you Till death And even further But they view me As a parody But they view me As a parody This is the story About happiness and life I give my soul for you To the vultures Above us This is the story Of miracles I give time with you For no money To another But they view me As a parody But they view me As a parody - Mastered by mixea.commore
