She Loves Em Like Her Own
“She Loves ’Em Like Her Own” is a song about chosen family and unconditional love. It’s inspired by my wife’s former mother-in-law — a woman who didn’t have to step in, but did anyway, and treated my children with the same care, pride, and love as her own grandchildren. In a world where families don’t always look the way they’re supposed to, this song honors the people who show up with open arms and steady hearts. It’s about the quiet, everyday acts of love that mean everything — showing up, standing in the gap, and making kids feel safe, seen, and valued. This song is a reminder that family isn’t only defined by blood, but by the people who choose to love without conditions and give without expecting anything in return. (Verse 1) She ain’t tied by blood, no, not even a little, But she’ll drive through the night just to meet ’em in the middle. From the beaches down in Florida to my front porch light, She shows up with that smile that makes everything right. And the kids come runnin’, laughin’, yellin’ her name— ’Cause love don’t need a last name for it to feel the same. (Pre-Chorus) Yeah, she gives ’em what some folks never will… That steady kind of love that’s honest and real. (Chorus) She loves ’em like her own, Never once treated ’em wrong. Takes ’em on vacations, sings ’em old country songs. While some just take pictures for the world to see, She’s busy makin’ memories that they’ll keep endlessly. Yeah, she stepped in the gap where others left a hole— And she loves ’em… loves ’em like her own. (Verse 2) My babies learned early what it feels like to be Used like a pawn in somebody else’s story. Promises made and broken again, Smiles for the camera that stop when it ends. But she showed ’em something different, something true— That a grandma’s heart ain’t somethin’ you can fake or choose. (Pre-Chorus) And I thank God for the way she shows up, ’Cause kids shouldn’t have to question if they’re worth real love. (Bridge) Blood ain’t always family, I learned that young, Some hearts give love, others just give some. But she built a home in their little hearts, And that’s somethin’ no distance can tear apart. (Final Chorus) She loves ’em like her own, Yeah, you can hear it in her tone, From the long drives north to the calls on the phone. She’s the light in their life when some days feel cold, The kind of love you pray for when this world gets old. And I’ll thank her forever for fillin’ that role… Yeah, she loves ’em— Lord knows she loves ’em like her own. more

Backwater Baptism
Backwater Baptism was written as a reflection of surrender—of stepping into faith carrying sorrow, shame, and unanswered questions, and trusting grace to meet you there. The song follows a shared moment of confession and renewal, where truth is spoken, burdens are released, and mercy does the work no one else can. It stands for redemption without perfection, faith lived out in humility, and the quiet power of being made new exactly as you are. - Mastered by mixea.commore
