This song can be taken however the listener or listeners take it within, the story behind this song was on a personal level but also written to be listened to and then the listener chooses what they take from as their is no true wrong or right answer within. This song is about feeling stuck, wanting to move forward, but being unable or unsure where to start. The line "what would it take to lead me away?" is wondering if there's anything that could actually motivate a change. Stalemate took a long time to write, having gone through at least 5 or 6 different versions/variations over the years. It finally ended up here, becoming one of my favorite songs I've ever written!more
