The Blue Turtles are a five piece Americana band from Austin, Texas, formed in 2024 by a group of longtime session musicians who finally decided to make records for themselves instead of everyone else.
Their sound pulls from folk, country, rock and blues without leaning too heavily on nostalgia. The focus is on strong songs, restrained playing and arrangements that leave space for the stories to breathe.
The band features Dylan Carter on guitar, mandolin and vocals, Lucy Swan on fiddle and keys, Bob James on banjo, Noah Carter on bass and Caleb Boone on drums. Noah and Dylan are brothers, although they spent years moving through different corners of the music world before ending up in the same band.
The name comes from a long closed music bar in San Francisco that each member passed through years before they ever met. Different nights, different years, same place.
The Blue Turtles are fictional. Probably.
