ALGOL is musical project from the mind of Darcy James. Darcy began an interest in music from a young age when witnessing his Father onstage play with his own band, absorbing a range of influences early on from his surrounding friends & family. After earlier failed attempts at learning guitar, at around age 14 he began lessons again, this time dedicating himself to his craft for a couple of years of lessons - and then the same time period of singing lessons to top it off. He then began his journey of writing his own music, using increasingly inventive chord progressions and unorthodox song structures. Despite utilising more alternative strokes of influence in the vein of a Radiohead or Elliott Smith, there are also distinct Poppier elements present not unlike certain aspects of bands such as the Beatles or Blur. EP 'Wasted' - released in 2021 when Darcy was aged 27 was the culmination for Darcy of many years of honing his craft and recorded when studying a music degree.
