Afotey Humble Lion is a singer on a mission, and he brings back memories of troubadours like Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, James Brown, among others who used their music as a vehicle for social change. Humble Lion has been on a crusade since recording his first songs in the nineties. As a youngster, he recalls that his mum told him that anytime he was upset over something, he would communicate his feelings in a song, and it’s little wonder that today, he’s singing about social issues and calling attention to the problems of our day. Afotey Humble Lion is out with two tunes which draw attention to social issues affecting us. These are ‘African Leaders’, and ‘It’s a Shame’. Both songs are on his current album – Lamentations, and they draw attention to the plight of Africa while our leaders live in opulence. African Leaders, in particular, bemoans the sorry state of Africa today which he believes is largely caused by the wrong leadership provided for Africa.
