Barboza Boreal is the solo instrumental project of Costa Rican musician Edwin Barboza, a pianist and composer with over 20 years of experience performing music. Known for his passionate connection to the piano, Barboza has spent years exploring the emotional depth of sound through different genres — from hard rock and gothic atmospheres to cinematic and introspective soundscapes.
Beyond his solo work, Edwin is also the founder and leader of a Costa Rica rock and pop cover band: Mezclados, where he’s spent years reinterpreting the classics that shaped his musical identity. After decades of collaboration and live performances, he decided to embark on a personal journey — Barboza Boreal — to give voice to the melodies that had long lived in his imagination.
His music blends melancholic piano themes, epic arrangements, and dark cinematic textures, inspired by the emotional intensity of gothic rock, classical romanticism, and the mystique of intense sounds
