BateJB

Limbe Cameroon

Greeted with comparisons to Libianca and Jovi, Bate JB emerged in 2017 as a fresh Afro Makossa–driven voice with SHADOWS, becoming the first male Cameroonian debut single to top the Cameroon Hot 100 in over a year. Blending Afro Makossa, Afro-Pop, and contemporary African rhythms, Bate JB quickly rose to become one of Cameroon’s most influential Afro artists. His project FREE HUGS produced multiple Top Ten records, including the standout hits BODY and JOKIJO. As a collaborator, he expanded his catalogue with powerful songs such as PRISONER, a heartfelt ballad alongside Cloe Grae. His run of chart-impacting releases continued with records like DO (2022), while his artistic range has kept evolving through projects such as MOMO (2024), reflecting a sound that merges Afro Makossa roots with cinematic depth and modern African storytelling.
