Mwayi Mphande, better known by her stage name Black Pace/Lady Pace, is a passionate Malawian women's rights campaigner, life skills coach, business student, and celebrated hip-hop artist. Born and raised in Malawi, Southeast Africa, she currently resides in Vancouver Canada.
Pace has released 3 full albums and numerous singles, with another full album set to launch soon. Her music is an eclectic blend of hip-hop, Afro-pop, and the distinct sounds of her native village. Inspired by underground hip-hop, she began composing her own music at the age of 13, crafting beats from the percussive objects in her immediate surroundings, including tables, spoons, and sticks. Her lyrics reflect her day-to-day experiences and the challenges of being a female hip-hop artist in Malawi. For Pace, music started as a catalyst for self-expression and has evolved into a powerful means of advocating for women's and children's rights.
