As a young Mexican/American you already have it tough coming up in your surroundings. Living in the lower/middle class areas doesn’t make it any easier. You’re already seen as lesser so most give up before they even try. When dealing with self doubt like that it’s human nature to find a way to vent. I chose to listen to music, my radio allowed me to escape the world around me and momentarily live a different life through someone else’s story. Whether their situation was worse than mine or better it gives you a different outlook on your own situation. It’ll assure you it’s not all that bad, take you on a journey or motivate you to level up and achieve more for yourself. I realized how important music was to me and wanted to do that for others. I started writing poetry first as a way to get out of my own head, short lived. Growing up in a home where rock n roll/heavy metal was law naturally I took to writing rock songs, even shorter lived.
