BoyBovis is the solo folk project of Sid Plimmer: mixed-media artist, writer and labourer from the Mendip hills and now residing in Bristol. Sid recently released his first EP, Some Folk(‘s) Songs, this stripped down covers collection reinterprets and re-examines 4 classic folk songs: from a 1970s heartbroken lament to tales as old as the Appalachian mountains. This body of work is the foundation from which BoyBovis aims to develop: it demonstrates a preoccupation with hearsay, folk tales and the past that anchors his work while still leaving room for the experimental qualities of his sound and lyrics that will begin to emerge in his own material.
