Ryan Boyce

Born on the wrong side of the tracks, at the western edge of the Rockies, where the mountain meets the desert, Ryan Boyce is your typical red blood, blue collar roustabout. In his youth, he was a drummer in a loud, angstful alt/prog/punk rock band, in SLC, Utah. Music has always been a staple for Boyce, even in the artistically dry years. He was an OTR operator in the oil fields, stretching from Texas to the San Joaquin, the Bakken, and finally back to the basin, in his home state. Somewhere in his late 30's to early 40's, Ryan essentially said "fuck it" and picked up a guitar and started writing stories about his travels and trials. With no skillset on any musical instruments, he'll tell you it was hard at first. But as he realized that every pop/rock/country song ever written is essentially 3 or 4 chords and a hook, via The Beatles, Nirvana, Johnny Cash and others, it got easier. He still can't read music or understand tab. He just knows what he hears in his head.
