SouthAfrican pianist/producer/songwriter BusiJazz (Busisiwe Sibisi) has her roots in Ulundi-KZN, but she grew up in Jozi - Orlando West, eKasi lika Madiba. From a young age Busi was involved in cultural projects, but it was the hand of her grandfather Alison that led to her love for piano. As a child, she learned classical piano from Jewish pianist Bella Jellin. In her teens she studied music at The National School of Arts, and then went on to study Jazz (majoring in Piano) at the Tshwane University of Technology. She started playing with a band called Massive Re-Action, then joined Evergreen, a music band that specialized in Acid Jazz. The group was made up of artists like RMBO of the BLK_JKS and RibaTone of Kwani Experience. Her first break was playing for the late HHP, and then went on to play for Ntsiki Mazwai, before joining Selaelo Selota’s band. She toured the world with an all female band called Basadi Women of Jazz, playing in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Paris and Kenya
