Brooks Wood singer, songwriter and musician grew up in Quitman, Mississippi just a few miles south of Meridian. The birthplace of the “father of country music” Jimmie Rodgers. Brooks found his singing voice at an early age listening to and trying to emulate legends such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jim Croche and Elton John. He formed an eclectic style of singing that can be described as gritty and soulful. At the age of 13 his grandfather bought him his first guitar. Leading him to discover guitar slingers like Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Brad Paisley giving Brooks a direction that helped him polish his style into a blend of blues and country. Currently he has forgone having a band to be an acoustic act. Playing clubs and events around the east central Mississippi and west Alabama area. This decision has helped him to improve on his stage presence and allowed him to focus on his own material. Brooks is currently working in the studio to release an album.
