Callum Carty is a singer and guitarist from Birkenhead, Merseyside. Originally focusing on instrumental music, his debut album The Dojang reflects his philosophy of continuous self-improvement. Consistent practice and arranging in the style of guitar heroes such as Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert were merged with the music of South East Asia, with Balinese Gamelan rhythms, Japanese scales and Gagaku serving equal inspiration. His upcoming debut single “Kung Fu” is a result of practicing this outlook. As the title suggests, martial arts was a foundational theme for this album. His personal goal of being the best that you can be at your aspiration was supported by the philosophy of the Shaolin Monks practicing Kung-Fu, supreme skill from hard work and repetition. This was practiced as a guitarist by writing 10 songs, practicing for 1000 hours, focusing especially on his weaker areas and logging his journey, which he plans to share via online courses.
